Tow Cases of Complications On the Removal of Epidural Catheters

Abstract
Through the epidural catheter, an injection or an infusion of local anesthetics and opioid into the epidural space is a good method for anesthesia and analgesia. Continous infusion pump is useful for this purpose.
But there are some problems unexpected because the catheter is fine and soft. We present two cases of the problems associated with an epidural catheter.
One case is that the catheter was interrupted below the subcutaneous layer with an exposure of the inner spring-wire out of the skin during the removal of the catheter. And the distal part of the catheter was removed surgically under the local
anesthesia.
The other case is that a knot of the catheter below the skin was formed during the removal of it, which was removed by the incision and the widening of the skin with instrument.
